The Royal Family has grown as Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have welcomed their daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose.

Little Athena was born a few weeks early on Jan. 22 and weighed 4 lbs., 5 oz., the BBC said. She is healthy and doing well and joins big sister Sienna who was born in 2021 and Christopher Woolf, known as Wolfie, Mapelli Mozzi’s son from a previous relationship.

Both the newborn and her big sister share the middle name Elizabeth in tribute to their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, People reported.

The Royal Family officially announced Athena’s birth, saying that King Charles III and Queen Camilla “are delighted with the news.”

Her father, who goes by Edo, wrote on social media, “We welcomed Baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.”

Princess Beatrice was due in the spring but was told in December not to travel long distances, so she missed the Christmas season with her husband’s family away from the U.K. and instead celebrated the holidays with the rest of the royals at Sandringham.

People magazine said Athena’s early entry into the world was not unexpected.

Sarah Ferguson, Dutchess of York shared a photo of her newest granddaughter on social media saying that she was “incredibly blessed to be a granny once again.”

Athena, which was the Greek goddess of war, handicraft and wisdom, is 11th in line to the throne. She also will get a title from her father’s side of the family, “nobile donna.” Mapelli Mozzi is a count and Beatrice is also a countess as part of the Italian aristocracy, People magazine explained.
